Hi There! My name is Tianna, and I am so excited to share with you my adventures and discoveries along the way of living real. When I say living real, I mean living simply. Living a life we were intended and designed to live, eating consciously, playing with my children, RUNNING, and seeking God's will for my life. I originally started this blog several months ago, however as I am learning and changing my life-style I have decided to star over in the blogging department.
First I would like to say that God's forgiveness and Grace is the only thing that has brought me to this peaceful and joyous time in my life in which I am seeking and desiring to live the life I was created to live. With that being said, I am writing this blog in hopes of helping anyone who has the desire to make a lifestyle change, and to share my quest along making my own lifestyle changes.
I am married to an amazing, supportive, and Godly man, Adam, who is an infantryman in the Marine Corps. It took us over 10 years, but we finally figured out we were meant to spend the rest of our lives together, and I have never been so sure of something as our God given connection. We have two beautiful boys, Roman who was born in 2008, and Pace, born in 2011. Being a mom has been the most challenging, joyous, emotional, and tiring thing I have ever experienced. I greatly desire to be the best mom possible and am learning as I go that I will never come close to perfect, but the love for my children is endless.
As a family we have made some decisions that are a tad against the mainstream. We have decided to raise our children television free. We have one television which is located in our master bedroom, however we have no cable, and tend to average about 1 movie a month. Other "different" things about our family life include homeschooling, and eating no granular sugars, or refined flours, oils or packaged goods. I make our breads, crackers, and occasionally chips. We use organic, raw, local honey or 100% pure maple syrup, or dried dates as sweeteners. As a mom I do let my children have treats outside of the home on special occasions (which seems like a weekly event), however I do not have any packaged goods or crackers or fruit snacks in our home. If they want a snack they eat nuts, dried fruits, fresh fruits, cold steamed veggies, or pb&h(honey) with toast or apples. It is sometimes exhausting cooking all the time, however I have come up with some things that reduce my kitchen time and increase my fun mommy play time!
As a woman I have realized that I devote 95% or more of my day to fulfilling the needs of my family. I love my role as a mother, however I knew there was something missing. That is when I started to really run. Not just my usual 2 or 3 miles, but 6-12 and sometimes 15 miles. I had never known this passion before and what has unfolded has been incredible. I will explain more about me and running in the running section!
Lastly, I have recently made a huge shift in my life to eating a vegan, plant based diet. My reasoning for this is based on being diagnosed with psoriasis last year. I have developed psoriatic arthritis in my hips and pelvis as a result of psoriasis, and pregnancy. Additionally, psoriasis doubles the average chances of developing any type of cancer, while eating a vegan plant based diet greatly decreases these same odds. So with a great amount of consideration I have transitioned to a completely different lifestyle than I ever imagined. My children are not vegan, however my goal for them is to eat meat only 2-3 times per week. Check out my recipes page and I will talk a little more about the basis for my decisions!
Thanks for taking the time to read this! I am excited to share this beautiful life adventure!
